NameBenjamin BATT, GGG Grandfather of spouse
Birth1807, St Lukes, London
Death1862, Southend, Essex
Burial1862, Hackney, London
Misc. Notes
Clearly “Bengham” in 1851 census, but spelt Benjamin subsequently
Apparently born in Aldersgate
Died whilst on a day trip to Southend. Instead of riding the tram along the pier he decided to walk and, despite being shouted at to get out of the way, was trapped between the railings and the tram car. He died 3 hours later. His estate was worth less than GBP20! Thanks to Jim Batt for this story.
